8 Million US Dollars

The Vice President sms-ed me & my colleague, “..well done, guys!..”

That gov officials smiled to us and commented, “..great job, gentlemen. Have you realized that you just save your company’s pocket for more than USD 8,000,000.-?”

Me, just realized the fact, “..uh, correction: 8 mio out of 8.5 mio of what we had fought. That was really something, wasn’t it? And of the 500 K dollars left, there’s still another road not taken yet: we could claimed for at least half of it – due to the taxation matters. We could simply argue that it was their NPWP (= Nomer Pokok Wajib Pajak/ Tax Payer ID No.), thus it should be them who pay it, not us. Because how on earth people could pay for another one’s tax, that would be charged against that another one’ s NPWP? It’s simply a book keeper’s nightmare. No one could ever done that. It’s also against the fairness principle.” Yes, we have a legally strong position on this case, here.

Another me, still tried to hold on to the amusing yet fascinating fact, “..I still couldn’t believe of how (relatively) smooth it was. Okay, we were argueing here and there – sometimes quite harsh, too. But most of if went on just like the the wind of the mountains and the sounds of the valleys of the beautiful Bandung city. It almost seems that they didn’t prepare that well.”

Another one responded that if they really didn’t get themselves ready for this, then pity on them – but sure it was their fault. Not us. We did our best.

It’s 3 am in the morning of the next day, alright. Been working hard for days and weeks and months before this, and on also for another simultaneous projects. I know that at the morning we should go back to Jakarta and report ourselves to the office, and to a line of anxious VPs and BOD. But heck, let my VP share the good news himself. For now, a little celebration is what we deserved, and of course what we desperately need. It’s time to play hard! *wink (has she woke up? Should I call her?).

Yes, there are still another battles to be fought, there should be another Mondays to be felt miserable, and sure there would be another tonnages of one meeting to another. But that’s what tomorrow will be done. Today we had enough, for yesterday we took the pain darn well. Tomorrow would be another pain, of course, and the feel that starting to lose my grips on life, and beyond. Just hang on.

If only I could claim for 10% success fee..

*grin

This remind me of another yet freshly chat about this, in between today's day-long meeting with a bunch government officials. If only we could claim for that.. (yeah, keep on dreaming!:p)
