Masalanya, gue sendiri lagi banyak masalah, hehe.. Nggak dhing. Paper2 gue aja banyak yang masih nggak jelas nasibnya, belum ngitung kerjaan kantor, dan waktu buat nya.
I’m allowed to have my own priorities, no? ……
Well, after some talk with my princess, I don’t think that those rejection would looked nice on email; especially that after all these years I learned a lot about the misunderstanding tendency in written communication forms. See this blog for instance, heuhe.. So I just shared them with my princess, and decided to verbally deliver it to that friend.
Uhm, ternyata kok malah galak-an dia yang saya share yha? Hhahaha.. Breath baby, don’t forget to breath! Hihi..

IPA, or Indonesian Petroleum Association, probably one of the most sought after event of the year. Especially after the government launched the new version of PSC (Profit Sharing Contract); which regarded as would give more burden to the investor. Sure, such new method, that put more emphasis on the POD (Plan Of Development) perceived as another obstacles; in contrast to the country's need to boost up its daily lifting a.k.a. daily oil production. For more understanding and calculation, see this posting: mengapa subsidi bbm HARUS dihapuskan
Apalagi kalo musti follow up segambreng meeting itu. 4. Tinggal di-net-off dengan hari kerja saja, it’s gonna be a win-win solution for all, no? 5. Flexible working hours, apabila memungkinkan. Bensin mahal, ‘cak! 6. Casual attire permitted or even encouraged, sepanjang memungkinkan. Masa kalah sama anggota parlemen? Hhehee.. FYI do you know what my nickname is amongst the most dearest ones? It is Mr Meeting, hehe.. My apologize if you felt neglected in any possible ways -- thanks to that circumstances. Anyway, any additional ideas, anyone? Jakarta, Senin, 21 Jan 2008 Habis meeting di luar kantor (akibatnya gagal daftar ulang ke kampus, hiks)
PS:
* No.9 anggap saja sebagai bonus akhir tahun, kekeke..

Aku sih no problem, makanya dia yang mengurus anggaran rumah tangga. Eh, tiap akhir bulan dia bikin invoice tagihan Profesional Fee sama aku. Waktu kubilang kalau aku ini suaminya, bukan kliennya, dia malah minta advance payment.
Dia juga menagihkan Out of Pocket Expense ke dalamnya.
Duhhh
6. Tahun lalu laporan keuangan rumah kami mendapatkan Opini Qualified karena aku gak menyimpan supporting document atas expensesku.
Teman-teman, berpikirlah dua kali sebelum menikahi auditor. Duh ... Aku ternyata sudah gila.
Aku, seorang auditee seumur hidup...

It reminds me myself, that after got tired from that Cross Country trip, I still have a wedding to be attended -- directly from the field, and with my bike on the back seat of my Starlet mini car.
It's good that you do all efforts you can to appreciate the invitation you received. Reminding me of another option about "to attend or NOT to attend" a wedding party invitation, that could be read here:

Jam buka masih jauh oi, udah nggak nahan ya? Gitu deh mereka bilang, hehe.. pait benerrr…! Untungnya so far mereka masih (mencoba) utk mengerti sih. Duhh, ayo semangattt....!!! Umm, besok tuh bukannya baru hari Kamis ya, mas? Oopss..!!
Tapi gue ngeyel, hehe.. Hm.hmmhm.. Sekarang udah setengah tiga, dan masih harus meeting sama BPMIGAS euyy.. ngejar nggak ya waktunya? Ayoo, semangattt...!! Ever feel you got sickened every time you see that clock tic-tacking around the beautiful Sunday Morning.., whilst you are laying around lying naked on your bed, and smell the freshness and the almost sweet flavor hanging in the air? And wish that someday they would make days longer than just the usual 24-hours. A wish that finally you are free to do whatever you want, whenever you’d liked, wherever it would be; without have to worry about that running moments.
This following article hopefully could help you to deal with that matters..
TLT 070617 – 11.01 am
How to Stay Happy at Work by Jenny Ungless
How often do you get the Sunday evening blues? Every now and again, or every week without fail? If it’s the latter, maybe you should think about moving on…
But lots of people find themselves in the situation where they’re not ready to move jobs just yet – perhaps because they’ve only been in the role a short time, or because they want to gain more experience. So if you find yourself in the situation where you’re in a job that is ok but not brilliant, or that you really need to see through for a period of time, what can you do to make it more interesting and - dare we say it – more fun? Here are some suggestions:
Focus on the positives. What do you really like about your job (come on, there must be something)? How could you incorporate more of that into your working day? Remind yourself of the other positive aspects of your work – your friends and colleagues, for instance.
Find new challenges. One of the reasons that we can get restless in our job is, quite simply, boredom. Think about ways in which you could make your role more interesting. Perhaps you could volunteer to mentor new staff, or spend some time every week shadowing people in other departments to get a broader perspective on the business? Discuss your ideas with your line manager.
Is there scope for you to work more flexibly? Working from home one day a week, for example, could give you more variety. This is not an excuse to get up late and lie around watching daytime TV, though – you’ll need to be able to show some output for your time away from the office! Again, discuss the options with your manager.
If you feel you’re not being stimulated enough mentally, consider doing some training or a course that is work-related: it will give you new insights, help to keep you fresh, and will be a useful addition to your résumé when you are ready to move on.
Network more. If meeting new people is not already part of your role, find ways to incorporate it. Meeting people and getting fresh perspectives can help you to keep yourself interested and interesting. If there don’t seem to be many networking opportunities where you are, create some! Organize a pub quiz or a team outing, or arrange for you and your colleagues to meet up with staff from another part of the company.
Inject a bit of fun into your workplace. That could be as simple as croissants on a Monday morning or a team drink on Friday afternoon. Or it could be a more structured social event. Your work colleagues don’t have to be your bosom buddies, but you’ll enjoy your working day much more if there’s a bit of banter and humor around. Just because your work is a serious business doesn’t mean you can’t have fun while you do it!
Make an effort to do more interesting things outside of work. If your working week consists of getting up in the morning, going to work, coming home, having dinner, slumping in front of the TV and then going to bed, your job is going to have a disproportionate impact on your overall mood.
Try to fit a couple of social engagements into your week – a dancing class or an art exhibition, perhaps, or just a catch-up with friends you haven’t seen for a while. Having something to look forward to during the week will help to make it more bearable.
If you find that your problem is you’re working such long hours that you don’t have time to have fun outside work, let alone in the office, you need to tackle this. Get used to prioritizing your workload – negotiate extensions to deadlines if necessary – and make yourself leave the office on time at least 3 nights a week. Most of us have periods when we’re extra-busy and end up working long hours, but if this is happening to you routinely, you need to get out of that rut.
If, despite trying all the things we’ve suggested, you’re still not enjoying your job most of the time, then perhaps it is time to think about moving on. Life is too short to spend in a job that makes you miserable!

Yeah, our job definetely is not everything,
but we often sacrifiece everything for our job,
and we didn’t even come close to realize it,

Never been there before – it wasn’t you, it even didn’t sound like you. No one would ever want to be there. Would you, have you known earlier? I doubt it. But here I am. A meeting hopper. Today would perfectly make just a typical day: 6-meetings in a row, only stopped for a lunch break, and several glances to the laptop and inbox.
Who are you? You are the safety net, the car bumper. No, you are even more than that! You are that shining armor, a defensive shield. You are a rear unit dispatched to slow the enemy’s advancing march down; thus others might save their a**. Whose gonna save you? Ah, that’s a good question.
And all you can do is just face the music, take the blow, and grasp for some fresh air; whilst still can – if you could. No one knows what you do, but to disrupt others’ peaceful programmed daily life. No one would testify and justify your counts of success, but thousands would happily jumps to laugh on and to swear for your loss. No one would know that one of those things you’ve been working on could and/or would eventually lead to something “worse”, but they certainly demanded for the best only.
And lets take a body count: of a hectic week and perhaps beyond (you may call it a year), this figures seems has been misplaced on my Portege; blinking bold black fonts that indicating unread emails. Uhh, not just a few, but a lot of it. Thanks to the time you’d never sufficiently had to handle everything. To pack lots of thing into your tiny poor gray cells.
But here I am, and lots of them frankly commented of how happy and eager I am, despite all the rumble. Couldn’t believe my own ears, but yes, even they said it in such amazement. And envy the way I am, the way I do. Me? Just take it or leave it. Love your job, of course. Whilst here’s the list as of today:

8 Million US Dollars
oleh: terbanglah lebih tinggi
The Vice President sms-ed me & my colleague, “..well done, guys!..”
That gov officials smiled to us and commented, “..great job, gentlemen. Have you realized that you just save your company’s pocket for more than USD 8,000,000.-?”

Me, just realized the fact, “..uh, correction: 8 mio out of 8.5 mio of what we had fought. That was really something, wasn’t it? And of the 500 K dollars left, there’s still another road not taken yet: we could claimed for at least half of it – due to the taxation matters. We could simply argue that it was their NPWP (= Nomer Pokok Wajib Pajak/ Tax Payer ID No.), thus it should be them who pay it, not us. Because how on earth people could pay for another one’s tax, that would be charged against that another one’ s NPWP? It’s simply a book keeper’s nightmare. No one could ever done that. It’s also against the fairness principle.” Yes, we have a legally strong position on this case, here.
Another me, still tried to hold on to the amusing yet fascinating fact, “..I still couldn’t believe of how (relatively) smooth it was. Okay, we were argueing here and there – sometimes quite harsh, too. But most of if went on just like the the wind of the mountains and the sounds of the valleys of the beautiful Bandung city. It almost seems that they didn’t prepare that well.”
Another one responded that if they really didn’t get themselves ready for this, then pity on them – but sure it was their fault. Not us. We did our best.
It’s 3 am in the morning of the next day, alright. Been working hard for days and weeks and months before this, and on also for another simultaneous projects. I know that at the morning we should go back to Jakarta and report ourselves to the office, and to a line of anxious VPs and BOD. But heck, let my VP share the good news himself. For now, a little celebration is what we deserved, and of course what we desperately need. It’s time to play hard! *wink (has she woke up? Should I call her?).
Yes, there are still another battles to be fought, there should be another Mondays to be felt miserable, and sure there would be another tonnages of one meeting to another. But that’s what tomorrow will be done. Today we had enough, for yesterday we took the pain darn well. Tomorrow would be another pain, of course, and the feel that starting to lose my grips on life, and beyond. Just hang on.
If only I could claim for 10% success fee..

Photo courtessy of TLT. Taken on Hyatt Regency Bandung - Sep 22, 2005 at noon. It was more than a year ago, thus clearly it was not taken by my brand new camera, hehe.. Have to learnt how to master it first, definetely. For those of you whose can't hardly wait to see the pics took from that new toy of mine - be patient, and stop asking! Hehe..
Kawan,
Sebagai contoh, bisa dilihat pada bagian 'Case Study'; situasi yg digambarkan di sana sangatlah realistis dan manusiawi - nggak masalah apakah itu 'Barat', 'Timur', 'Utara', etc; perasaan ingin dihargai merp FITRAH manusia, di mana pun, siapa pun, kapan pun.. so, it's not all about the money, my friends.
"...in Indonesia, probably money is the main driver for leave..".

Why Good Employees Leave
by Louise Kursmark
Monster Contributing Writer
In any employment market, good companies want to keep their best people. But when labor becomes scarce, as the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects it will for the next decade or so, employee retention becomes an increasingly critical priority. What, then, can companies do to retain the people they worked so hard to recruit? From an informal survey I conducted of more than 100 executives recently in a career transition, several important facts emerge.
Compensation
-------------
The Issue: While just 31 percent of respondents indicated making more money was their primary reason for job hunting, it's evident that paying competitive salaries is an important retention tool.
What You Can Do:
· Use industry surveys and other data tools to stay informed on wage trends.
· To benefit both company and employees, tie increased pay to meeting specific goals aligned with business objectives.
· Collect data from exit interviews to document trends from your departing employees, then use this data to make a business case for increasing salaries across the board.
· Survey employees to find out what perks, benefits and forms of compensation other than money will help keep them on board.
Management and Retention
--------------------------
The Issue: In the survey, comments about poor management abounded. For 29 percent, the fact that they "did not like, respect or get along with their manager" was a significant factor in their decision to leave. According to Irving Stackpole, president of healthcare consulting firm Stackpole & Associates, "It's absolutely clear that the reason people stay in jobs are the relationships that they have -- primarily with their supervisor." And when those relationships are strained, many people leave.
What You Can Do:
· Improve managers' leadership, communication and interpersonal skills through coaching, training and feedback.
· Rate these key skills in their evaluations, and tie compensation to performance.
· Create a safe environment and process for employees to bring up concerns with their managers.
· Address problems quickly.
Communication

The Issue: When asked what advice they would give management to keep talented staff on board, survey respondents repeatedly |
